  Holders Meadow Mr. John Holder lived at the Spring Plantation in the 1700’s.  There was a road from Apes Hill Plantation (Hole #2) that went directly to the Spring Plantation (it ran below H-2 and on the north side of Hole 17.  The fields on the west of the road were called North and South Holder Road. Great Hill This was the name of this field that was located here. Names of Roads in Great Hill: Lime Kiln Road:  This is the road that takes you to the East Gate.  Across the road is the old Lime Kiln. Whistling Pine Road:  This is the road that takes you to the Plantation House and to lots I-38 and I-39. Apes Hill Plantation dates back to the mid 1600's when all plantations in Barbados named each field.  To try and keep our history alive, Each neighbourhood and road in Apes Hill has been named after a field or someone/something of significance when Apes Hill was an operating Plantation.   The number One question we receive is "Why was it named Apes Hill Plantation?"  We do not know and can find nothing in the archives to give us any answers.  We can only assume that it is because there were a lot of monkeys around the area at that time.   I will share the names of each neighbourhood and the roads in the neighbou...
